How Powerball works
Powerball draws three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights at 10:59 Eastern. The current 5 of 69 plus 1 of 26 matrix dates from the 2015 rule change, which enlarged the jackpot odds and shrank the Powerball pool to create more mid tier winners. The Power Play option multiplies non jackpot prizes, but it never changes the odds in the table above, only the payout attached to them.
